Program Overview

Trail Hunt International Foundations is a seasonal, outdoor scent detection–meets–tracking course in SW Calgary for dogs (5 months and up) and their humans.

Over the course of 4 x 2-hour classes (8 hours total), Cat, the first certified Trail Hunt International instructor in Canada, will introduce you and your dog to the fundamentals of this highly addictive new sport.

You’ll learn how to introduce your dog to the “Trail Pod,” start line cues, line handling, locating the Trail Pod, “free trailing,” “line trailing,” and a set of progressive games to get you and your dog confidently hunting. In between classes, you’ll practice in and around your neighbourhood to keep building your dog’s skills and confidence.

This accessible sport gives dogs an outlet for their energy and instincts while boosting confidence, problem-solving, and, most importantly, the bond between you and your dog.

Team Work

You’ll master start line cues, line handling, and reading your dog in and out of odor, laying the foundation for clear communication and teamwork on the trail.

Trouble Shooting

Making mistakes is a natural part of learning for dogs and people. You’ll learn important skills like what to do when your dog loses the trail or gets stuck.
