Therapy Tails 2 – Working Skills

Therapy Tails 2 – Working Skills class is a specialized therapy dog class in Calgary designed for therapy dogs, service dogs, and animal-assisted therapy dogs in training that have already established a strong foundation of communication, relationship-building, emotional regulation, and obedience and manners in Therapy Tails 1. This level is for teams who are ready to develop their working skills in order to facilitate therapeutic interactions with patients, clients, students and individuals in need, or, in the case of service dogs, to initiate the development of essential working tasks.

Over the course of 8 weeks, you will continue to develop your dogs’ social and emotional intelligence, fostering empathy and refining social skills such as the ability to read and respond to the emotional atmosphere in any given setting. You will develop crucial working skills, laying the groundwork for successful public interactions all while elevating their obedience and manners. 

Additionally, you will explore alternative learning theories including social and cognitive learning models, to unlock your dog’s full potential and enhance their social skills and problem-solving abilities. You will enhance your dogs’ sensory and sensory-motor capabilities, bolstering their confidence and increasing their capacity to communicate and adapt.
