Therapy Tails 2 – Working Skills is an advanced therapy dog class in Calgary designed specifically for therapy, service, and animal-assisted therapy dogs in training. Building on the core skills learned in Therapy Tails 1, this course focuses on developing working skills to facilitate therapeutic interactions.

The 8-week program aims to increase your dog’s social and emotional intelligence, foster empathy, and improve relational and working skills (obedience and tasks) in a variety of contexts. You’ll learn different learning theories and teaching methodologies for improving your dog’s problem-solving ability, social skills, and cognitive complexity.

Furthermore, you will learn about the significance of attachment, trust, and “leading with love,” all of which will plant the seeds for a closer and stronger relationship with your dog as well as a change in their desire to work that is driven by intrinsic rather than just extrinsic factors.
