You're probably asking, Treibball? What the heck is that?
If you're not familiar with the word, that's perfectly understandable. It's entirely new!
Originating in Germany and wildly popular there, Treibball is only just being introduced in North America. In fact, ImPAWsible Possible is one of only two companies in Western Canada to offer Treibball training.
So, what is it, exactly?
Well, Treibball is a competitive sport . . . especially for dogs! The object of the game is for each owner/dog team to herd a series of rolling sheep (large balls) between two goal posts, within a given period of time. Responding to verbal and hand cues from their human coach, who remains in the goal point area while the game is in play, the dog targets the sheep indicated by the coach, and using only nose and shoulders, guides it towards the goal posts.
Treibball training combines agility, herding, and problem-solving in an energetic ball chase that dogs simply adore! But Treibball is much more than a game. The real beauty is that while dogs may think they're playing, they're actually learning teamwork, cooperation, impulse control, attention to hand and verbal signals, and self-mastery. And keeping fit, at the same time!
As you can see, success in Treibball depends on close teamwork and communication between owner and dog. That's why our Treibball courses, like all our Positive Training programs, focus on strengthening that connection, while teaching core Treibball skills. And as an added bonus, these skills are fully transferable to every-day life so your dog will be a champ, behaviour-wise, both on and off the field!
